CONVENTIONS - MIAMI '09 - presenter bios

Abbie Appel is ACE, AFAA, NASM certified, a PIA Pilates Master Trainer, and a Reebok University Master Trainer. Trained in dance and vocal performance, she has worked for various television programs, including Kiana's Flex Appeal on ESPN.

Geoff Bagshaw is one of Canada's most energetic and inspirational fitness leaders. He has been seen in several fitness training videos, magazines and television programs and was named Can-Fit-Pro's Canadian Fitness Presenter of the Year in 2004. Geoff is Can-Fit-Pro certified and a BCRPA Supervisor of Fitness Leaders.

Gail Bannister-Munn has her finger on the pulse of fitness enthusiasts and the club industry because of her widely varied fitness background. She is the regional area group fitness manager with XSport Fitness. She presents both workshops and lectures at internationally attended conferences and teaches aerobic choreography as an instructor with East Coast Instructor Training.

Sally Belanger has traveled extensively around the globe exhibiting her expertise as a STOTT PILATES® Presenter and Trainer. Stationed at the Corporate Training Center in Toronto, she is a Certified Instructor Trainer and Project Specialist for the Education division. With over 15 years experience in the fitness industry, Sally has coached elite athletes from a variety of disciplines perfecting their game while reducing the likelihood of injury.

Lawrence Biscontini, M.A, is a Mindful Movement Specialist with numerous fitness accolades: ECA Presenter's Choice Premier Debut Award (2009), Best Mind-Body Presenter (ECA, 2005), Specialty Presenter of the Year Award (Can Fit Pro, 2004), Instructor of the Year Awards from IDEA (2004) and ACE (2002). He also works for Beamfit, Bender Ball, Gliding, and Power Systems. His latest books are Running the Show: Excellence in Service and Morning Cardio Workouts by Human Kinetics.

Benjamin Black has lived on four continents working in strategy consulting, professional sports and music, working with clients like Jerry Bruckheimer, Tyra Banks, Warner Brothers, Nike, Sony, Booz Allen, and Cirque du Soleil. Benjamin presents self-discovery, branding and yoga workshops around the world.

Marti Boutin presents educational programs worldwide and is an author for several publications. She resides in Fort Myers, FL. where she works as a personal trainer and group fitness leader and is the owner of Heart Dancing Fitness which provides instructor training and DVD’s. She is a training specialist for AEA, ISCA, and Team SPRI and was awarded AEA’s Fitness Professional of the Year award in 1995. Her certifications include AEA, ACE, AFAA, NASM, AAAI-ISMA, ISCA, & YogaFit.

Michael Boyle is one of the most sought after coaches in the area of performance enhancement and athletic rehabilitation. He has been involved with a wide range of athletes, from stars in every major professional sport, to the US Women’s Olympic teams in soccer and ice hockey. Mike has served as a consultant to some of the top teams in the NFL, NHL, as well as numerous division one athletic programs.

Anna Carbonell has studied under yoga masters such as Sharon Gannon, David Life, and Yogeswari .She now heads the yoga department and teaches at Exhale in New York City. In addition to being a yogini, she is also a professional Polynesian dancer for over 15 years as seen on commercials such as "Dove Body Wash" and "The Travel Channel" featured as a Polynesian dancer.

Rick Carranza is a certified RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) Instructor under Pavel Tsatsouline, a certified AKC (American Kettlebell Club) Coach under Valery Federenko and CPT under the NSCA. Rick has trained with the top professionals including: Steve Cotter, Mike Mahler, Steve Maxwell and Nate Morrison. He is also a kettlebell sport competitor and took first place in the World Competition in November, 2007 in Miami Beach, FL.

Sherry Catlin has presented in 25 countries and 23 states. She's a Continuing Education Specialist for ACE, the Director of Program Development for Body Bar Systems and a member of the Elite National Training Team for Systematic Touch Training.

Matthew Comer, MS is a STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer, founder and co-owner of Pilates South Beach, and has a Master’s Degree in Dance and Movement Therapy. With special expertise in the post-rehabilitation applications of Pilates, Matthew blends his love and knowledge for performance enhancement, movement analysis, dance, physical therapy and Pilates into one practice.

Bianca Diaz has over 20 years of teaching experience around the world. As a former international competitive aerobic judge her knowledge and experiences have classified her as one of the most respected instructors in her native country of Puerto Rico.

Clare Dunphy is a Master Trainer and Program Developer with Peak Pilates. Clare co-authored the Peak Pilates System Certification and MVe Programs. She is also well known for her innovative Body Bar classes and won two OBOW Awards with ECA. She holds a BS in Physical Education from Northeastern University and holds certifications through ACE and the Pilates Guild.

Marcelo Ehrhardt is the group fitness recruiting manager and area group fitness manager for Equinox Fitness Clubs. Ehrhardt developed signature group classes for Equinox, including CoMMotion!, BODYformula and eLement! His classes have also received accolades including the “Best New Class 2004” by New York Magazine's "Best of New York" issue. He has been Featured in many media outlets.

Carrie Ekins is an international presenter and owner of Global Wellness, a Fitness/Wellness consultant company in Germany. She is the founder and executive Director of Drums Alive. Carrie is known for her unique, creative and powerful presentations.

Lisa Gaylord works as an instructor at Crunch in Miami Beach, is AFAA certified and a fifth degree black belt in karate. She is a weapons expert, a Women's National Kickboxing Champion, and a spokesperson for Hitman. She has appeared in and choreographed numerous videos and movies as a featured performer and stunt fighter.

Rob Glick was named the 2006 International Presenter of the Year by CanFit Pro and the 2005 Best Male Presenter by ECA. He holds a B.S. in exercise and is a member of the creative team for EFI Sports Medicine's GRAVITYSystem and continuing education provider for both ACE and AFAA. He is a master trainer on the Schwinn Cycling, BOSU and Body Bar teams as well as co-creator of the 5 Star Instructor Development program.

Patrick Goudeau is a former U.S. National Aerobic Champion and the recipient of four ECA OBOW Awards. He has recently released 7 highly acclaimed workout videos through the Patrick Video Series, and has been in numerous publications including "Fitness", "Health" and "Real Simple" and is one of the featured instructors on "All-Star Workouts" on The Discovery Channel/FitTV.

Clay Grant has been successfully competing, performing, coaching and teaching in the aerobics and fitness industry for almost 20 years. Clay is a Silver and Bronze Medalist in the US National Aerobic Championship. Certifications include: AFAA, ACE, Step Reebok and Pilates Allegro.

Philip Gray, international fitness celebrity and star of many world-renowned fitness videos, is known for his upbeat, outgoing personality. Amongst his many accomplishments and awards are Instructor of the Year for Crunch and Best selling Workout Series in Italy. He is currently living in South Beach and is the Group Fitness Manager at Equinox. Philip also designs and manufactures his own active wear line for Women under his name.

Dan Hellman holds a Master of Science in Physical Therapy, is a certified athletic trainer and one of the C.H.E.K Institute Faculty. He combines all aspects of his training when working with clients at his clinic in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Sue Hitzmann, MS, CST, NMT, creator of The M.E.L.T. Method™, is an educator and practitioner of Hands-off Bodywork™ and a leading authority on neurofascial science and treatment techniques.

Elizabeth Hoffmann earned her degree in Dance/Music/Choreography/Kinesiology from the University of South Florida. And a Spinning MI for France shortly after moving there with her husband in 1999. Lizzy now lives in North Carolina where she owns a Yoga studio called Urban Bliss, focusing on Yoga Alliance approved 200-hour teacher trainings.

Sarina Jain is the creator of the Masala Bhangra Workout. She is an energetic fitness innovator, music-video choreographer and international television/radio personality. She hosts her own TV segment on Discovery Channel’s Fit TV and has a show on Exercise TV and makes regular appearances on NBC’s Today, ABC National News and other major media outlets.

Scott Josephson, M.S. is the Director of Operations at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. Scott is a national conference speaker , a recipient of numerous awards and is frequently published. In addition to several certifications, he holds a degree from the University of Miami. His work portfolio includes Geraldo Rivera, Wimbledon Champion Chris Evert and athletes from the New York Giants and New York Mets.

June Kahn is the founder of June Kahn’s Bodyworks, LLC, & Educational Director for Beamfit, LLC. June is best known for bridging the gap between traditional Pilates and the fitness industry.

Jim Karanas is Head of Education and Training for Johnny G’s new Kranking® program, as well as Club One's Chief Fitness Officerr. With a Master’s Degree, Jim is a CEC provider for ACE and was named to Men’s Journal “America’s Top 100 Fitness Trainers” for 2005 and 2006. His views on fitness have been published in Fitness Business News, the NY and LA Times as well as San Francisco, San Jose and San Diego magazine.

Barbara Klein is a well-known physical therapist and presenter in Europe for 25 years. She is an author of many health books and expert in her own " loose weight show" on German TV.

Petra Kolber is a Reebok University Master Trainer and ACSM, NASM (CGT), ACE, AFAA certified. She's winner of 2004 and 2003 ECA Best Female Presenter of the Year, 2001 IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year, the 2000 Canadian Fitness Professionals International Instructor Of The Year and awarded 1999 Fitness Crusader of the Year by Health magazine. Petra has numerous videos on the market, and has been a Contributing Editor for many women's health magazines and has appeared on television as a fitness expert.

Jeff Krabiel has been a Master Instructor for the Spinning program since 1995. With two teaching credentials and a Master's Degree in Special Education, he is a teacher for severely handicapped children and has begun working on a PhD in Childhood Education. He is also an ACE and AFAA certified Group Fitness Instructor.

Michelle Mascari has been in the health and fitness industry for 20 years and managing group exercise for 15 years. She is now Group Fitness Coordinator for Lifetime Fitness Corporation, South Florida. She is also the Creator of “Just a Towel “and has been featured in Fitness videos and in Self Magazine for her creative workouts.

Joelle Menard is the Head Canadian Gymstick Master Trainer, in charge of all education for Canada and part of the World International Gymstick team. She is also part of the Bender Ball Master training team. Certifications include GymstickT, Aqua, Pilates, Basic Muscle, Circuit, Cardio and Nordic Walk, Canfitpro FIS, PDS, YMCA FI, PT, FIDA.

David Mesirow is the creator of Beamfit™, the logical outcome of his 29 years as a leader in the fitness industry. David is a former Reebok Master Trainer and Avia Athlete.

Patricia Moreno is an international presenter, Nike Elite athlete and motivational speaker. She has made creating fitness programs, life coaching and educating her passion. She is the owner of IntenSatilife.com, and the creator of the latest breakthrough in mind body fitness, IntenSati. Patricia has been voted "NYC Best Instructor" by the media for years and in 2006 won ECA Best Female presenter award.

Mindy Mylrea is the 2008 ECA Best Female Presenter, 2004 CanFit PRO International Presenter of the Year, and the 1999 International IDEA Fitness Instructor of the Year. She's a National and World Aerobic Champion and is the creator and lead talent behind Gliding. Mindy is also a master trainer for Schwinn Cycling and is on the pro development team for Bosu, CorePole and Body Bar.

Erin Maile O'Keefe & Kevin O'Keefe are the co-founders of Circus Yoga. They share a passion for teaching, community yoga, and circus. Circus Yoga is their life passion and revolution. Their extensive skills include Flying Partner Yoga, Family Yoga, Partner Acrobatics, Circus Skills, a therapeutic approach to Flying and Partnering and Thai Massage.

Mark Occhipinti is an author, lecturer, exercise physiologist and nutritional consultant with over 33 years of experience in the sports nutrition, strength training, sports medicine and personal training fitness fields. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Science, a Master’s of Science in Exercise Physiology specializing in cardiac rehabilitation and a Doctorate in applied Human Nutrition. Mark is the President of the American Fitness Professionals & Associates (AFPA), a health, fitness and nutrition continuing education and certifying organization in the US.

Debra Orringer holds a Masters of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology and is the current manager of NASA Kennedy Space Centers Fitness Centers. Certified with ACSM, ACE and AFAA, Debra is a master trainer for Gliding, Pilates, t BOSU and Drums-Alive. She has consulted for the Winsor Pilates group, the Total Vibes.

Evan Osar, DC is the head of O.S.A.R. Consulting which specializes in treating individuals with chronic pain and dysfunction. An internationally renowned speaker, Dr. Osar presents for several national organizations including American Council on Exercise, ECA, Fitness Education Seminars, IDEA, National Strength and Conditioning Association, and Perform Better.

Edwin Ryan is the head athletic trainer and fitness manager at Florida International University (FIU) Recreation Services. He is completing the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at FIU and has a Masters in Advanced Athletic Training/Exercise Physiology. He holds certifications with the ACSM,Cooper Institute and NSCA, ; a NATA BOC Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer; an NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, and CHEK Institute practitioner.

Juan Carlos Santana, M.Ed., C.S.C.S. serves as NSCA Florida State Director and is a member of the NSCA Conference Committee. He is ACSM certified and a Senior Coach and Club Coach Course Instructor with USA Weightlifting, and a Level I coach with the USA Track and Field Association. Carlos is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Miami's Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences.

Tom Sharp has held Master Classes in Floor and Step aerobics across the Southeast US, from Birmingham, AL to Austin, TX where he currently instructs at Pure Austin Fitness. He is known for his creativity, fun choreography and simple breakdowns. Tom is AFAA, BOSU, Reformer Spx, and Spinning certified.

Cameron Shayne serves on the Board of Mind/Body arts for SCLA. He has produced five award winning home training system DVD's and the #1-selling yoga/martial arts DVD of all time. He is also an author, international speaker, founder and creator of the Budokon Yogic/Martial/Living Arts System. His clients have included world-class entertainers, Olympic gold medalist, professional athletes, top industry leaders, and corporate moguls.

Robert Sherman is president and owner of F.I.T., Inc. Robert is recently published in Self Magazine an appeared in exercise videos and television appearances. Robert was named as one of the top 100 fitness trainers in America by Men’s Journal and Allure Magazines and was selected by the Washington Post newspaper as one of the best fitness instructors in the Washington D.C. area. Capital File Magazine recognizes Robert as the “Power Trainer” in Washington, D.C. He is a Gold Certified by ACE, AFAA and ACSM.

Chriss Silverstein is an FePro certified instructor and also an RKC (Russian Kettlebell Challenge) Instructor under Pavel Tsatsouline. Chriss is also a kettlebell sport competitor, making her debut at the Arnold Classic in March ’09.

Bill Sonnemaker, MS is an internationally sought after Personal Trainer and Fitness Educator. He is a spokesperson for IDEA and is the recipient of the 2007 IDEA International Personal Trainer of the Year Award.

Kimberly Spreen is the National Director of Group Fitness for Life Time Fitness. She is one of Exercise TV’s Star Trainers as well as star of several exercise videos and a professional fitness consultant with Global Fitness Solutions Kimberly travels the world as a Presenter, Motivational Speaker and Continuing Education Provider for ACE.

Robert Steinbacher is a former gymnast who started his career as a dancer and choreographer. Since then he has gained over 15 years of experience internationally as an educator, presenter and choreographer. As a movement therapist, he created the bodyART training system and is the owner of one of Europe's biggest movement and mind-center schools which educates over 3000 instructors and body-workers worldwide.

Mark Stone is a member of the teaching faculty for the C.H.E.K institute and a C.H.E.K practitioner – Level 4. He is Vice President and co-owner of North Shore Smart Bodies, a corrective exercise and personal training facility located in Northbrook, IL. Mark served as a Nike Training. He has co-produced educational videotapes and manuals.. He has co-authored several personal training manuals on strength training, program design, and rehabilitative fitness.

Tony Stone has worked with Salt N' Peppa, Falco, LL Cool J, Lutricia McNeal, Kelis, MTV World Tour, Daniel Hall, Beyonce, Juliette as well as a Michael Jackson Tribute. Tony was a featured dancer in Fashion Rocks for the Prince's Trust in London, and a featured choreographer of the 2006 Danish Music Awards. He is a two-time nominee for "Best Choreographer" and winner of ECA OBOW Award for "Best International Presenter/Instructor".

Craig Stuart is the founder of HYDRO-FIT and education director for the HYDRO-FIT Academy. He is the star of several acclaimed water fitness DVD’s and is certified fitness professional with AEA and ACE. Craig is the 1992 recipient of AEA’s Contribution to the Industry Award ATRI’s 2002 Tsunami Spirit Award.

Maria-Cathrine Stumbeck has been a choreographer and performer since her early teens having studied at the Copenhagen Ballet Academy. She moved to London, England at the age of 15 and trained at dance studios such as Pineapple Dance Center & Danceworks. Maria-C is a Nike Europe athlete and International Presenter.

Joshua Taylor is a Master Instructor for the Spinning program and a former professional cyclist. A seasoned athlete who has competed at the highest levels of bike racing for over 18 years, Joshua is a two-time State Road Race Champion and has raced against some of the top international cyclists in the world in events such as the San Francisco Grand Prix.

Thomas the Promise is the founder of ISCA (International Sports Conditioning Association) and Promise Enterprises, a sports conditioning association, which has certified thousands of instructors around the world. ISCA/Promise Enterprises was the first organization to establish boxing and kick boxing written standards and guidelines for safe, effective group and personal training exercise programs.

Misty Tripoli, creator of Tribal Fitness, is a Nike Elite Instructor and one of the worlds most innovative and engaging fitness instructors, dance choreographers and personal trainers. Misty is well-known for her many revolutionary fitness classes that explode with her passion for dance, yoga, martial arts, Pilates, self expression and meditation.

Nick Tumminello, the director of Performance University, is the developer of the Core Bar™ and has authored numerous articles and best selling DVD’s. Nick serves as the Strength Coach for Team Ground Control MMA and as the sports performance consultant for the Esquerre Fitness Group International.

Lisa Wheeler, international presenter and dancer, National Creative Project Manager for Equinox, Global Master Trainer for Body Bar, Assistant Director/Choreographer for Fit Vid Productions, Contributing Fitness Editor for Shape Magazine, Associate Artistic Director of Ben Munisteri Dance Projects, featured in over 20 fitness dvds and proud recipient of two OBOW awards for Best Female Presenter and Best Original Class.

Brandi Woodard MEd, ERYT is a Master’s level professional with over twenty years experience as both an educator and presenter on mind body fitness, yoga, and dance. Brandi’s innovative techniques are “fun, effective, and exciting ways to address mind, body, and spirit.” - Self Magazine.
