Jessica Bellofatto: Co-Director of Yoga Shanti, Jessica was first introduced to the practice of Yoga by Anne Wennerstrand, a modern dance teacher and mentor at New York University. Anne sent Jessica directly to the (former) home of the Jivamukti Yoga Center. Jessica's first class at Jivamukti (purely by accident) was Primary Series Led Astanga. She was hooked.
Jessica's first teachers at Jivamukti were Katchie Gaard, Adrienne Burke, David Life, and Sharon Gannon. To these individuals, she is deeply grateful. Upon completion of the Jivamukti Teacher Training Program in 1997, Jessica ran around NYC teaching at Jivamukti, Crunch, Reebok Sports Club, etc., etc., until finally, collapsing in exhaustion, she moved to the country and opened Yoga Shanti with her amazing partner Colleen. Since then, she has studied extensively with various Iyengar and Anusara teachers, as well as with Rodney Yee, who has completely transformed her practice and way of teaching. Paul Widerman founded ThinkFit and invented SmartBells. He was a two-time New York State wrestling champion, co-Captain and later assistant coach of the Harvard wresting team, a national champion and 1st alternate on the U.S. Olympic team. Paul has spent many years studying Eastern and Western forms of fitness and health. He is a forerunner in the development of functional fitness programs. Over the course of 10 years, he developed the core patterns and advanced exercises that are the foundation of the SmartBells System. He has developed hundreds of SmartBells movements for solo, partner and group exercises.
Calvin Wiley is an award winning aerobic competitor including the Reebok National Aerobic Championship, the Pan American Fitness Championship and the Sundance National Aerobic Championship. He has fifteen years in the fitness industry and his dynamic, evocative choreography is known and respected worldwide. Alisa Wyatt is a PMA Gold-Certified Pilates Instructor and has been training athletes and civilians alike since 1999. She apprenticed under Joseph Pilates' protege, Romana Kryzanowska, whose rigorous program sets the standard for Pilates teachers worldwide. Co-creator and star of the DVD, Pilates for Men, she is also a NYC Ambassador for Lululemon Athletica. In addition to teaching at retreats and conferences internationally, Alisa trains clients at her private studio, Pilates On Hudson, and at Equinox Fitness Clubs in Manhattan. Alisa's classes are a vigorous, fun, whole-body workout emphasizing flow, mental focus, and proper alignment. It's her goal to spread the joy of movement through Pilates.
