EDUCATION - ecits school faculty

Gary Scott
Gary is the President East Coast Instructor Training School, and Vice President of ECA World Fitness. He is ACE, ACSM, AFAA, AEA, ISSA, AAAI/ISMA and ISAT certified, and has a B.B.A. in Business Management. Gary presents workshops internationally on fitness and club personnel/management. He is also an adjunct professor at Adelphi University, a guest instructor for New York University's Fitness Certification Program, and a consultant to many top gyms throughout the country. Gary has provided training services to the U.S. Coast Guard, Long Beach Police Dept. and the New York Jets. He is also on the National Body Bar team, featured in the Body Bar Video, the Practical Aspects of Personal Training video and has appeared on numerous TV and radio segments.

Myrna M. Brady
Myrna has more than 16 years of combined Human Resources Management and Fitness experience. She has a B.S. in Music Performance & Education K-12 from Hofstra University and is a SHRM certified Human Resources Generalist. Myrna is a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor by some of the most recognized fitness certification bodies in the world: ACE, NASM, Spinning®, PHI Pilates, ECITS and the YMCA to name a few. She is a licensed school teacher for the East Coast Instructor Training School, An Instructor Trainer for ACE's CPR,First Aid, AED program and a Corporate Regional Faculty Instructor for TSI/NYSC.

Marty Dusel
Marty has been certified 10 years with AFAA as a Personal Trainer and Weight Room Specialist. He is a Spinning® and Body Pump instructor, Body Conditioning Certified and through the TSI Foundations. He has more than twelve years experience in the fitness industry and has worked as a Manager for Bally's Head to Toe Fitness, NY Sports Clubs Fitness Manager and is currently an active trainer with Atlantis Personal Training. Marty is also involved on our curriculum development staff and helped create the practical aspects of training for the ECITS Level 2 program.

Dan Hogan
Dan is an International Fitness Presenter with over 25 years experience. He has taught across the USA and throughout Western Europe as well as Africa, Russia and South America. He is a Human Movement Specialist and a Master Practical Trainer for ACE.
His educational background includes a Masters degree from NYU in Biomechanics and Ergonomics with a strong concentration in Exercise Physiology. He has presented his work for several conferences and conventions including ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) and IADMS (International Association for Dance Medicine and Science). He held an internship in Sport Medicine at NISMAT/ Lenox Hill Hospital and was published with their research team.
Dan's experience and education together provide him with both practical and theoretical knowledge to train new trainers and provide continuing education to established professionals.

Mary Squillace
Mary has been with ECITS since 1990 and worked as the ECA event director for 5 years. She is an Occupational Therapist who specializes in traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, hand injuries and Pediatric early intervention. Mary is ACSM certified and has taught all levels of aerobics and fitness classes for over 20 years. She specializes training special populations and was Director of several fitness programs including Hofstra's Athletic Advantage. She has owned two fitness facilities and has contributed to several journals and books. Mary was acting professor at Long Island University where she taught anatomy courses and at Touro Medical School teaching advanced Clinical Neurology.

Deborah O'Connell, MA, MS, CSCS
Deborah has a Master of Science degree in Physical Education with a concentration in Sport Management, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and is also certified with ACE, ACSM, NASM and NSCA. She provides training services to in-home clients and several health clubs. She presently serves on both the ACE and NSCA Exam Item Writing Committees, and is an Examiner for the ACSM Health Fitness Instructor Certification Program. As an Adjunct Professor with New York University, she lectured on health screening and exercise prescription in their Fitness Certification Program. Deborah is on our curriculum development staff, helping to design and implement the physiology and kinesiology portions of our Children's Specialist Certificate.

Sybil Sidelman R.N.
Sybil was the Coordinator of the Employee Wellness Program and the Program Developer of the country's only Frail Elderly Hospital based Program. Sybil is ACSM certified and an Instructor Trainer for Marymount College and Fitness Masters. Sybil presents for ECA and IDEA. She is also an Instructor Trainer for the American Heart Association and a Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor.






Group Fitness Staff

Gail Bannister Munn
Gail is the New York Regional Group Exercise Manager for X/Sport Fitness. Gail is our Team Leader Coordinator for ECA. She holds certifications in 7 different disciplines and 18 years experience as a fitness professional has given Gail opportunity  to be a repeat presenter at many of our events.
